    2. NewLab presentation

    NOLA is NewLab’s 5th location(Brooklyn, Detroit, Montevideo, Riyadh, NOLA)
    It is an business technology incubator to get new technology companies quickly to market with hubs, labs, pilot sites, scale up networks.

    Partnered with greater NO Inc LSU other universities city of NO

    Original site is north of NSA but could expand into 3rd NSA building(currently planned to be mothballed until development progresses)in the future.

    3. BYMBO presentation by Jonny Lisa of JAMNOLA + Chris Berends RAVEN PMG

    Jonny and Chris introduced BYMBO, the BYwaterMarignyBusinessOrganization https://www.bymbo.org and mentioned several of their initiatives and partners like bike easy https://bikeeasy.org and neighborhood cleanups that partner with local businesses

    • Unless otherwise noted(usually on months that we have socials) the general meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 7 O’clock at Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Church 3037 Dauphine Street, at the REAR of the parking lot

  2. 13 January 2026 General meeting

    1. BNA President’s updates
    – NSA started in late December with with demo phase. Build time is 21-22 month est.
    – Mazant/royal Hano property test piling driven
    – Arrive hotel is in litigation regarding substandard construction and completion prospects in Limbo
    – Milky way motel 17 room motel on St. Claude under construction est completion September

    2. Johnny liss BYMBO updates
    -Discussed Spark event and plans for safer St. Claude
    – the event had a rapid and successful approval by the city and state of the neutral ground art installation.
    -There was unanimous agreement between BYMBO businesses that making St Claude safer is the number 1 neighborhood business priority
    -There is an upcoming meeting to discuss the development of St. Claude master plan. The St Claude safety master plan meeting with multiple neighborhood associations will be 20 January 5-6 pm at the healing center located on 2372 St. Claude.
    – The Monthly BYMBO meeting is 15 January from 5-7 pm with guest speaker Sandra Herman founder of the Celebrate Canal Organization

    3. Restore the MS river Delta outreach coordinator Jordan Phillips
    – Salt water intrusion and canals led to coastal erosion while levees speed up the river which prevent silt deposition that was building coast which collectively led to massive coastal land loss.
    -The coastal master plan is done every 6 years which functions as a blueprint to direct funding sources in a scientifically sound fashion to projects that protect and rebuild the coast.
    – The organization analyzes science for solution, advocate’s and educates.
    – The large(3 billion dollar) sediment diversion project in midbarataria was recently put on hold which could have rebuilt considerable square milage

  3. 10 February 2026 General meeting

    1. PETER AAMODT – Vice President, Elysium Development will present an update on construction for NewLab and the NSA facility
    -The project closed financing on 20 December 2025 with demo work starting the next day
    – Broadmoor construction is redeveloping the Buildings 1 and 2 estimated time to completion is 20 months
    -City provided Grant being fullfilled Brownfield contracting to clean up second building
    -New Lab Has started construction and anticipates completion by the end of the year. It will have five separate bays with LSU and Shell using two of the bays
    -There are city parcels that the Army Corps has been using to stage construction of dolphins(man-made structure that stands independently in the water and is not connected to the shore or a dock) in the industrial canal. This construction contrac should be completed soon
    -A separate contract for cleaning the interior, painting and mothballing building 3 for later use should be completed in 2026
    -the site will have 12 EV spaces in the front parking lot on Poland with capacity to add 12 more
    -The developers are trying to partner with the Audubon institute to extend crescent park to the end of the world
    -The homeless encampment in the base has moved outside the flood wall with about 8 consistent residents and others who are coming and going
    -The Deployable Naval reserve ships stationed along the river may be replaced in the near future but the site will continue to be used for reserve ship mooring
    -There are no current plans for connecting a burgundy entrance to the NSA complex but there are plans being put together to make a rampart entrance
    -The is a plan to develop the catwalk from building two over the floodwall but it has not been fleshed out(for historic reasons the catwalk can’t be removed.

    2. DEVIN DE WULF [BEANLANDIA] + ZACHARY CHANCE [BNA BOARD OF DIRECTORS] – Devin and Zach will presented details on BNA’s extensive tree planting campaign.

    -Currently working on first run of plantings on France and Lesseps

    -Every resident interested should be able to get a tree planted in the right away in front of their lots as long as utilities and driveways allow for space
    -We collaborating with beanlandia which has a city grant for more tree planting

    -Wide variety of mostly native options depending on proximity to power lines(Live Oak, Bald Cypress, Sweet Bay Magnolia and others)

    – For next round during summer concrete cuts will be done so planting can occur in the Fall

  4. 14 April 2026 General meeting

    1. TORI BUSH – The Canal Will Kill NOLA https://www.thecanalwillkill.org.
    Tori Bush provided an update on the INHC(inner harbor Canal) Lock replacement project

    -this year, Congress will likely discuss appropriations for this project through the WRDA
    -there is a amendment to a memorandum of agreement being circulated between the army core of engineers and various local organizations discussing adverse impacts and community mitigation options required as part of the Section 106 meetings( Part of NHPA that deals with historic structures) CAWIC is urging the organizations not to sign the Memorandum of agreement
    -The organizations next monthly meeting Monday is April 20, from 6–7:30 PM at a new location: 1319 Poland Ave.

    at the meeting they will be sharing what’s ahead and how we can stay organized, including:
    • Planning for upcoming federal processes like WRDA
    • Preparing for the Inland Waterways Users Board meeting
    • Updates on our mini‑docs and social media outreach
    • Details on our May crawfish boil

    2.VANN JOINES – Mr. Joines a former BNA board member who usess Markey park frequently provided an update on the history of lead in Markey park.

    -In response to an Article in Verite News about lead found in New Orleans playground including the previously remediated Markey Park He is working with Beanlandia to raise funds to do comprehensive lead testing and remediation for Markey park

    – Mr. Joines explained the history of prior remediation of Markey that was based on remediating several inches of soil and placing Geofabric beneath the new unleaded soil. Since that remediation the standards have changed to several feet of remediation and what is considered safe by the federal government in samples has also changed

    -The plan is to collect funds to hire an certified agency to do core samples and develop a plan to remediate the playground to the new standard

    – remediation may be quite cheap or more expensive depending on the findings

    -Once a plan is developed it will be explained to other neighborhood associations with affected playgrounds to split the cost of testing if they are interested
